STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
- Using the Internet is encouraged and is a valuable tool in the classroom; however, there are certain student/user responsibilities and rules that MUST be followed.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Students must communicate in a way that is appropriate for a school situation (avoid offensive or inflammatory speech
2. Students may only access information that is appropriate for completing school assignments, researching job requirements, exploring college/university websites, etc. Accessing websites that are considered inappropriate (such as websites of sexual nature, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, personal email accounts, etc for any reason is unacceptable and could result in the student losing computer privileges.
3. Students should follow all copyright rules when accessing information.
4. Impersonation and anonymity are strictly prohibited. Students can only use their personal information when signing onto the computers.
USER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Using the internet for personal profit or any illegal activities is strictly prohibited.
2. Computer use may be monitored by administrator or staff to ensure the rules are being followed.
3. Users have equal access to the computers and internet relative to educational assignments/goals.
4. Users have a right to work in a quiet environment. Please be aware of others and do not disturb the other students.
5. Users should be safe from unwanted or harassing messages. Such communication should be brought to the attention of a staff person so he/she can remedy the situation.
10. Any effort to disrupt internet services or the computer system through vandalism, spreading viruses, unauthorized entry or destruction of computer files can result in criminal prosecution under state and federal law.
