This document is to serve as your acknowledgement of the requirement for every adult education student to take a post-test after they enter the system. Traditionally, this is done after every 40 hours/50 hours of class time, but should you withdraw from the program early, you must communicate with the Adult Education office to schedule a post-test before you leave. Without post-testing scores, SLCC Adult Education cannot stay free for students to attend. It is imperative that testing be completed before a student leaves the program.
I understand that I will receive an email after every 40/50 hours of instruction requesting that I schedule a post test and that I should do this within two weeks of receiving the email.*
I understand that if I fail to schedule my post test. I may lose the privilege of remaining in Essential Education or class until I take the post test.*
I understand that it is my responsibility to communicate with the Adult Education office should I decide to leave the SLCC WRU program. I also understand that I must complete a post test before I leave. Failure to complete a post test may result in students not being allowed to return to the SLCC WRU program.*

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records as noted below.

Students have the right to disclosure of personally identifiable information contained in the student's education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorize disclosure without consent. One exception, which permits disclosure without consent, is disclosure to school officials with legitimate educational interests. A school official (including those associated with the Louisiana Community and Technical College system) is defined as a person employed by the College in an administrative, supervisor, academic, or support staff position; a personor company with whom the College has contracted (such as attorney, auditor, or service provider); those persons in an emergency, in order to protect the health and safety of students or other person; accrediting agencies; persons in compliance with a judicial order and others as outlined in AP 51.01. A school official has a legitimate educational interest if the official needs to review an educational record in order to fulfill his or her responsibilities to South Louisiana Community College.

Students with Learning Disabilities Form

WorkReady U Adult Education is in compliance with the regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Reasonable accommodations for qualified persons with learning disabilities are provided to students who have self-identified with the Adult Education Department and have provided required documentation.

If you are approved for accommodations, please understand that they are approved for TABE testing and classroom use only but it does not guarantee that HiSET will approve the accommodations for HiSET testing.
I do need accommodations for TABE testing and classroom use. I understand that my accommodations must be approved prior to testing, and I will be rescheduled to take the TABE test once I receive notification from the Adult Education office. I also understand that HiSET may or may not approve these accommodations for HiSET testing.

INTERNET AND TECHNOLOGY POLICY

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
- Using the Internet is encouraged and is a valuable tool in the classroom; however, there are certain student/user responsibilities and rules that MUST be followed.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Students must communicate in a way that is appropriate for a school situation (avoid offensive or inflammatory speech

2. Students may only access information that is appropriate for completing school assignments, researching job requirements, exploring college/university websites, etc. Accessing websites that are considered inappropriate (such as websites of sexual nature, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, personal email accounts, etc for any reason is unacceptable and could result in the student losing computer privileges.

3. Students should follow all copyright rules when accessing information.

4. Impersonation and anonymity are strictly prohibited. Students can only use their personal information when signing onto the computers.

USER RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Using the internet for personal profit or any illegal activities is strictly prohibited.

2. Computer use may be monitored by administrator or staff to ensure the rules are being followed.

3. Users have equal access to the computers and internet relative to educational assignments/goals.

4. Users have a right to work in a quiet environment. Please be aware of others and do not disturb the other students.

5. Users should be safe from unwanted or harassing messages. Such communication should be brought to the attention of a staff person so he/she can remedy the situation.

10. Any effort to disrupt internet services or the computer system through vandalism, spreading viruses, unauthorized entry or destruction of computer files can result in criminal prosecution under state and federal law.
